Here's Something About Memorial Day We Bet You Didn't Know

Memorial Day is a time to honor all those who gave their lives for our country.  It is also a time to celebrate our freedom and give thanks for the blessings that we all enjoy, never forgetting the men and women who laid down their lives so we could live ours.

So while you're enjoying all the festivities and parades, and time with your friends and family this weekend, here are some Memorial Day facts that will make you the smartest person at the barbeque.

New $20 Billion Plan to Combat Homelessness & Provide Affordable Housing in New York State

Governor Cuomo just yesterday launched a landmark $20 billion, five-year plan to combat homelessness and advance the construction of affordable housing in New York State. The plan will create and preserve more than 110,000 units of affordable and 6,000 units of supportive housing over the next five years. This marks the largest investment in the creation and preservation of affordable housing and efforts to end homelessness in the history of New York.  

Dutchess County - What's Happening In The Housing Market?

At the first of April, 2017, there were 330 less single-family detached homes for sale in Dutchess County than there were in April of 2016.  In spite of the continual decline in available inventory, sales have held up at slightly higher numbers than last year.  

However, the lack of homes for sale appears to be having an effect on current purchase offers, which are down by 13.4%. 

Let's take a look at sales, selling prices, purchase offers and available listings in Dutchess County, comparing year-to-date figures through April 2017 to the same period last year.

Two New Boutique Hotels in Beacon New York
